Karnali River Rafting Expedition Itinerary (9 Days)
Day 1: Kathmandu to Surkhet
- Drive (6–8 hrs) or fly (1 hr) to Surkhet, the staging point for the Karnali adventure.
- Meet your guides, check gear, and enjoy a Nepali dinner.
- Overnight at lodge or camp near Surkhet.
Day 2: Surkhet to Dungeshwar – Journey Begins
- Off-road drive (~6 hrs) to the put-in point at Dungeshwar.
- Set up base camp by the river and enjoy your first night in the wild.
Day 3: Dungeshwar to Sauli – Easy Paddling & Team Warm-up
- Begin rafting with Class II–III rapids to practice coordination.
- Keep watch for monkeys, birds, and river otters.
- Overnight riverside camping.
Day 4–7: Into the Wild – Big Rapids & Deep Jungle
- Face the heart-pounding Class IV–V rapids, including “God’s House” and “Juicer.”
- Enjoy calm sections with swimming, birdwatching, and wildlife viewing.
- Evenings spent camping on river beaches under star-filled skies.
Day 8: Final Rapids & Scenic Drifts
- Rapids ease into Class III–IV for relaxed floating and panoramic views.
- Watch for elephants, bison, and exotic birds.
- Celebrate your final night with a festive riverside dinner.
Day 9: Chisapani – Journey’s End
- Reach the take-out point at Chisapani by midday.
- Drive back to Nepalgunj and fly or drive to Kathmandu.
- Optional: Extend your journey with a safari in Bardia National Park.
